Our Mission

The mission of The Smallholders Foundation is to tackle extreme poverty and hunger among rural small farmers by boosting small scale agricultural production, the only way to kick start and support self sustaining growth and employment in rural areas.

Mission (161K)We remove the constraints that have caused small scale agricultural growth in Nigeria to lag behind.

We reverse the trend in the unavailability of water and land, poor natural resources management, inadequate access to services and markets, unfavorable policies, poor soil, low produce prices, low access to high quality seeds, low micro credit facilities and low enhanced farming implements facing small scale farmers in Nigeria.

Management Team

Full time and part-time staff carries out the day to day administration and management of the organization. Staff develops functional projects to be implemented, seek out funds, draw up budgets, implement such projects, conduct researches and surveys, carry periodic monitoring and evaluation, and draw up project reports. Organizational staff is lead by the Executive Director.

Nnaemeka Ikegwuonu, Executive Director

Nnaemeka (33K)Leading social entrepreneur and Ashoka Fellow. A rural natural resources management expert.

He promotes sustainable agricultural
and environmental management by building the capacity of small farmers to access high quality seeds, manage environmental resources, secure land , manage soil nutrients, maintain links to markets, access low cost water technologies and rear livestock, through radio and field educational programs.



Ms. Chinonyerem Anyanso Programs Manager

Anyanaso (51K)Environmentalist and Conservation Biologist.

Has managed several international donor supported livelihood projects .

Develops agricultural and environmental conservation radio broadcast programs and field capacity buidling curriculum.




Mr. Kalu Maduabuchi Agricultural and Environmental Development Expert

Anyanaso (51K)Rural Sociologist.

Has over 10 years practical experience in rural agricultural development and sustainable environmental conservation.






Mr. Chukwudi Njoku Programs Assistant

Njoku (29K)Agriculturist and community journalist. An expert in trainings, facilitation and development of agricultural, environmental management and market information radio programs.







Ms Chioma Richards Administrative and Accounts Officer

Administrator and accountant. Maintains the administrative and accounts systems of the foundation against international standards.


Mr. Emeka Davis Lewechi Programs Assistant - Radio and IT

Njoku (29K)Rural Radio IT expert and environmentalist. Emeka takes charge of our radio broadcast technologies.









Mr. Ugochukwu Ogbonna Agricultural Technical Officer

Njoku (29K)Seasoned Farmer . Ugochukwu trains young people in practical agriculture for our School Gardens projects and does field demostration for rural poor farmers.







Board of Trustees

The Board of trustees oversees the organization. The 6 member Board of Trustees meets periodically to define our focus and determine new direction. They regulate the entire activities, programs and projects of the foundation at all times. The board is lead by an elected Chairman of The Board of Trustees, together with other elected officers.

Members

The members of The Smallholders Foundation are the heartbeat of the organization. Apart from their moral and financial contributions, they elect from themselves, officers and members of the Board of Trustees every 2 years. Membership requests are open to small farmers, individuals and organizations that demonstrate overwhelming interest in the goals of the organization and possess immense potentials that will be beneficial to the organization.
